Remember the Sabbath

I've been discouraged lately to see all the posts holding up the Philadelphia Eagles as wonderful Christians. I don't know if they are Christians or not, and thankfully that isn't my place to judge. BUT they are openly and blatantly breaking God's law, and dragging down billions of viewers with them by encouraging them to sin by watching football instead of honoring the Lord's day. If these men are Christians, they are believers who are in sin and should be rebuked by the church, NOT held up as an example of what a Christian should be. “Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him if a great millstone were hung around his neck and he were thrown into the sea." Mark 9:42 "If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words: Then shalt thou delight thyself in the LORD; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it."
Isa 58:13,14

Shorter Catechism Q. 60: How is the Sabbath to be Sanctified?
The Sabbath is to be sanctified by a Holy resting all that day, even from such worldly employments and recreations as are lawful on other days; and spending the whole time in the public and private exercises of God’s worship, except so much as is to be taken up in the works of necessity and mercy.
How I feel as I scroll through my newsfeed this morning and see multitudes of people, who confess Christ, openly and cheerfully sharing about stealing His day to watch football 😢. It also leaves me amazed at how long suffering and merciful our Father is to us.

"God made countries, God makes kings, and the rules by which they govern. And those rules say that the Sabbath is His. And I for one intend to keep it that way." Eric Liddell, Olympic runner.

‘It was suggested to Liddell that the Continental Sabbath finished at midday; he replied that “His Sunday lasted all day”!

Please join me in praying that the Church will love and desire to keep God's day holy! This is such a burden on me :-(
