Dying :-)

Stefanie Cunnington shared a post.

Do not scream; for it is as if you scream all the time. If you are given a plate on which two foods you do not wish to touch each other are touching each other, your voice rises up even to the ceiling, while you point to the offense with the finger of your right hand; but I say to you, scream not, only remonstrate gently with the server, that the server may correct the fault. Likewise if you receive a portion of fish from which every piece of herbal seasoning has not been scraped off, and the herbal seasoning is loathsome to you, and steeped in vileness, again I say, refrain from screaming. Though the vileness overwhelm you, and cause you a faint unto death, make not that sound from within your throat, neither cover your face, nor press your fingers to your nose. For even now I have made the fish as it should be; behold, I eat of it myself, yet do not die.
When you chew your food, keep your mouth closed until you have swallowed, and do not open it to show your brother or your sister what is within; I say to you, d...

I'm in love with this new picture I hung up today. Before we got married John mainly had the house decorated with a nature/outdoors theme, and I've added in lots of blue and white, and scripture as time has gone on. It all seems to work together though, at least for us ☺. #iloveourhome #ruth116 #etsyshopping

Triumph over spiritual abuse

Years ago I read her book Escape so I was very interested to read this one. I'm always fascinated by the topic of how people move on and recover from spiritual type abuse. This is not written from a Christian perspective, but there were good practical insights and advice.

This. This is so sad. And it reminded me so much of the world I grew up in. You never heard anything good said about a women. And everything was always her fault. If she would just be more submissive, more modest, discipline her kids more.....She was always wrong. There was no hope for women in that religion. Never mind that men were the leaders, apparently they carried no responsibilities for what went on in the home because none of it was ever their fault.

I was raised to never look a man in the face/eyes because it was unsubmissive, immodest.....I still struggle with doing this. Or have a hard time believing a man would want to talk to me, or care about what I think. Yes, I'm socially awkward. Yes, I have scars.

Beach evening

We had such a fun evening at the beach!

When Daddy buys you new floaties.

John's sandcastles.

First fish

Attempting another fishing trip with the kids.

This friendly butterfly hung out with us!

This is how I fish :-)

Fishing on the Wolf

On Saturday, June 2nd John decided to take us all on a fishing trip on the wolf river. It was cold, windy, cloudy, we didn't catch anything...but it was an adventure!

We brought a picnic lunch.

When the fish aren't biting. 😢 🐟😢

You might be a good Presbyterian if you take #thomaswatsonfishing with you. 😃
Actually it just happened to be in the diaper bag......but the first line sounded better 😃.

The new Psalter hymnal

Soon after we started attending the OPC church two and a half years ago I started praying that the church would value and appreciate the Psalms, God's songbook. That they would see Jesus in them, see what a blessing they are, etc. The Lord has been merciful and I have been encouraged by a number of things to continue in prayer. That being said I loved listening to various videos from the OPC general assembly singing from the new Psalter hymnal. Lord willing our church will soon have all 150 Psalms to sing in worship. #thelordwillgivewhatisgood
