Just a hug

"Dukie, can I have a kiss?" "No, just a hug." This conversation takes place multiple times a day around here, the child has become very anti-kiss 😃. I tell him mamas are always going to kiss their babies, but I'm merciful and don't force too many kisses on him, lol. Thankfully he still loves hugs!

Visiting the Johnsons

We had lots of fun hanging out at the Johnson's house and farm yesterday evening!

Migraine madness

So it is time for another migraine update because they are so much fun. In reality I know it could be much worse, and I am trying to have a good attitude knowing this is what God has for me right now....but when the headaches get bad the depression hits, and it is HARD. June was hard because up until this month everything has seemed to run on a cycle and I kind of know when to expect bad days. In June I had 16 headache days, was very down, didn't sleep well, a poor appetite, etc. I don't know if my body is doing something new, or it was stress related. Also in June, actually today, we lose our insurance and will have to pay out of pocket for all drugs. And my Relpax which is the only drug that sometimes works, is $368 for 6 pills. No more Relpax for me, lol! So in the past week I've been refilling #alltheprescriptions, and we went in and got me on progesterone which *hopefully* Lord willing will WORK. It also will be affordable, tho not super cheap either. With any new thing they want me to try 3 months on it, so we'll see.....

Sigh....this was much of June for me.
This is so me.

Truth

I'm really loving this reminder I came across this morning -
"Go with what you KNOW, not how you FEEL." #everyday

Fifth Anniversary!

Today I am thankful for the blessing of five years of marriage to John!
Those of you who were my Facebook friends five years ago know that I was pretty into keeping track of just how long it was till John and I would see each other again, and then once we were engaged, how long it was till our wedding. So on our fifth anniversary  I had to share this 😍😃💏. I'm so thankful for these years, months, weeks, days, minutes, and seconds together!

Dressed up for a date. I'm wearing my wedding day bracelet, and wedding dress necklace,
All ready to go out!
We did some van window shopping.
And went to an awesome candy store that had so many yummy free samples. John got me some amazing turtle fudge, plus we got some seconds to share, and...
....this to stash for the Duke's birthday!
Yes, we did look at guns....for a few minutes.
We requested the KJV booth 😅😃🤣
The looks I get when I try to tell John what he should order, lol 😅.
We shared a HUGE steak....and brought home enough for the next night's dinner, lol.

Our selfie skills seem to be lacking!

To end with - some of my favorite Matthew Henry quotes that we used in our wedding program five years ago -

"That the woman was made of a rib out of the side of Adam; not made out of his head to rule over him, nor out of his feet to be trampled upon by him, but out of his side to be equal with him, under his arm to be protected, and near his heart to be beloved.

"Providence sometimes wonderfully directs those that by faith and prayer seek direction from heaven in the choice of suitable yoke-fellows: happy marriages those are likely to be that are made in the fear of God; and these, we are sure, are made in heaven.

"This is now bone of  my bone. Now I have what I wanted....a help meet for me." God's gifts to us are to be received with a humble thankful acknowledgment of his wisdom in suiting them to us, and his favor in bestowing them on us"

"God, as her Father, brought the woman to the man, as his second self, and a help-meet for him. When he had made her, he did not leave her to her own disposal; no, she was his child, and she must not marry without his consent. Those are likely to settle to their comfort who by faith and prayer, and a humble dependence upon providence, put themselves under a divine conduct. That wife that is of God's making by special grace, and of God's bringing by special providence, is likely to prove a help-meet for a man."

Church with Luke

A serious little Luke preparing for worship. He looks so quiet here that it is kind of a shame to mention that about an hour later I had to whisper to him not to shoot the Pastor 😮.
For the record, he and Caroline are allowed to hold 1 quiet toy/treasure in worship. Luke normally chooses a gun (of course) and this is his first church shooting attempt 😄.

Father's day

A few days before father's day.....
Caroline talking to Luke this morning - "Dukie, we have to be very good tomorrow for Daddy because it is father's day. Then he can have a nice day!" Luke, sounding disgusted, "No, we don't! That's silly, Caroline!" Sigh.... P.S. We celebrate father's day on Saturday, not on the Lord's day so she did have her days right :-)
This popped up in my Facebook memories yesterday and I had to share 😍. We're all thankful for the Daddy God has blessed our family with ❤.

Caroline and I made this card.

A gift.

Peach pie with vanilla ice cream was quite the hit.

Happy Father's day!
