Trinity Psalter hymnal

This week our church got in, and used, the new Psalter Hymnal for the first time! I've been praying for awhile that the Lord would cause the church to value and appreciate the Psalms more. To see what a gift it is to sing his word back to him. My hope is that these new songbooks will "normalize" singing the Psalms....and in so doing that the church, as a whole, will treasure them more ❤ (just like the little Duke in picture number 2).

"I have been accustomed to call this book, [The Psalms] I think not inappropriately, “An Anatomy of all the Parts of the Soul;” for there is not an emotion of which anyone can be conscious that is not here represented as in a mirror. Or rather, the Holy Spirit has here drawn to the life all the griefs, sorrows, fears, doubts, hopes, cares, perplexities, in short, all the distracting emotions with which the minds of men are wont to be agitated."

The bee

One of my #primeday purchases. #2018books Oh my, yes! I am dying over this book, but not sure whether to laugh or cry. I've experienced so much of the over the top, trying to look holy, making up your own rules religion they describe. 😢 It will get you thinking, that's for sure! #babylonbee #howtobeaperfectchristian

New lamp

New little lamp I found at Goodwill for this table. It's almost a miniature version of ones we already have in the living room.

Ortho adventures

Ortho adventures. He got an x ray, full cast, a fruit snack, and he gets to go back next week. Poor little Duke.

Broken arm

Last Monday evening Dukie broke his arm when he stumbled getting out of the van. John had been working on the truck and he tripped over the leaf springs which fell on his arm and broke it. The rest of the evening was spent in the ER. Thankfully after some ibuprofen, an x ray, some Daniel Tiger, and a stuffed dinosaur present he cheered up a little. Poor little Dukie.

"God has a love for the dwellings of Jacob, has a gracious regard to religious families and accepts their family-worship. Yet he loves the gates of Zion better, not only better than any, but better than all, of the dwellings of Jacob. God was worshipped in the dwellings of Jacob, and family-worship is family-duty, which must by no means be neglected yet, when they come in competition, public worship is to be preferred before private.... Let us not be ashamed of the church of Christ in its meanest condition, nor of any that belong to it, nor disown our relation to it, though it be turned ever so much to our reproach, since such glorious things are spoken of it, and not on iota or tittle of what is said shall fall to the ground."

Thoughts

What our sermon was on today --
"As soon as ever God had given them cities of rest, he bade them appoint cities of refuge, to which none of them knew but they might be glad to escape. Thus God provided, not only for their ease at all times, but for their safety in times of danger, and such times we must expect and prepare for in this world. And it intimates what God's spiritual Israel have and shall have, in Christ and heaven, not only rest to repose themselves in, but refuge to secure themselves in."

Fourth of July parade

When the fire truck goes by blasting its horn.....and you see there is a sleeping baby in the backseat! 😪😃
#waupacaparade

Terrible pic, but that moment when the antichrist shows up at your parade....

Does your fourth of July parade include a porta potty? 😮😃🙄
