Caroline said

"Grandma must be getting old, Mom. You know how I know? Because we've had her for awhile!"

She then went on to talk about how kids get to have fun, but grownups don't have fun, they just work all the time. "Probably when I am 6 I will still have some fun, but the older I get the harder and harder things will get for me!"

The kids said

"Mom, my throat kind of hurts when I talk."
Me, "Maybe try talking less?"
Caroline, "That's too hard!"

"Mom, you're being nice to me today. Is that because I'm sick?

"Mom, I believe in Jesus, does that mean my burden is gone?"
The kids are very into Pilgrim's Progress sight now.

Mom, I'm glad God gave us feet so we can walk!"
#carolinequote

A conversation with Luke -
Me, "We're all sinners. You're a sinner."
Luke, indignantly, "No, I'm not! I'm a Christian."
#theologyfor3yearolds

Caroline, "Dad, what do mayors do?"
"Well, they run a city. They tell everyone what to do."
"Oh, I could do that. I'm good at that!"

Luke, watching me put on earrings, "Mom, you're going to be so pretty today!"

"Mom, can we play a game where we pretend you are our mom, and you are watching us play?"

Caroline, "31! Wow, that is getting old. Someday Grandma will be that old."
🤣

The kids said

Duke getting up from the dinner table, "Can we make bedtime soon? I tired."

He asks for naps too, "Is it almost nap time? Good, because I tired."

The kids were talking about being sinners at lunch, and I tried to seize a " teaching moment."
"Yes, we are all sinners. That's why we all need Jesus."
Caroline, "Yup, we need Jesus so we can sin! ....Mom, what's wrong why do you look so funny?"
Sigh. Apparently something got lost in translation. #momlife #romans61

Caroline, "Mom, God has good ideas. Sometimes I don't like them though."
Duke, "You should be thankful! And be good, like staying in your bed."
#childrenquotes

Caroline prefers animated movies to ones with real people, "They're more 'kiddable,' mom." 😂

Caroline, "I want to be a doctor when I grow up."
Duke, "I'm going to be a bear killer! With a big gun!"

Caroline, "I Caroline, "I want to be a doctor when I grow up."
Duke, "I'm going to be a bear killer! With a big gun!"want to be a doctor when I grow up."Caroline, "I want to be a doctor when I grow up."
Duke, "I'm going to be a bear killer! With a big gun!"
Duke, "I'm going to be a bear killer! With a big gun!"

Caroline, "Wow Dad, you have a nice wife!" 😃😅

Caroline, "Mom, did I do it "goodly"?"

Driving out of Menards, after picking up our order, Duke asked, "What's that we're driving through, Dad?"
John, "It's a gate."
Duke, "Oh! The wicket gate!"
Someone has been watching a lot of Pilgrim's Progress, lol.

Caroline said

This girl is just full of encouraging words.
"Mom, when I grow up will I have a pointy nose like you?"
"Dad, do I have a big mouth like you?"
🤣😂😅🤣

Caroline said

"Mom, I'll hug you before I go play so you won't forget what I look like."
Earlier today, "Grandma, why don't you paint your nails? Is it because you're old and stuff?"
Also, after hearing John praise Duke for patience, "I wonder where he got that? Probably from me!"

The kids said

Caroline and I were sitting and playing with her toy animals, when Luke walked in, "Oh, I remember that game. I used to play it when I was a kid."

Caroline, "When I grow up I want be just like you, Mama. I want hair like you, I want to talk like you.......Will I have a big nose like you too, Mama?"

The peacocker

Caroline and her newest pet, the "peacocker." Also known as a plastic turkey decoy 😂😅
Doesn't everyone carry a plastic turkey under their arm while riding their bike? 😃.

Father's day

A few days before father's day.....
Caroline talking to Luke this morning - "Dukie, we have to be very good tomorrow for Daddy because it is father's day. Then he can have a nice day!" Luke, sounding disgusted, "No, we don't! That's silly, Caroline!" Sigh.... P.S. We celebrate father's day on Saturday, not on the Lord's day so she did have her days right :-)
This popped up in my Facebook memories yesterday and I had to share 😍. We're all thankful for the Daddy God has blessed our family with ❤.

Caroline and I made this card.

A gift.

Peach pie with vanilla ice cream was quite the hit.

Happy Father's day!

Caroline was playing Daniel in the Lion's Daniel with her toy animals, "But this time the lions are eating him, Mama!" I'm sure Daniel would be glad Caroline didn't write the story, lol 🦁.

Caroline and I

I had to go out this morning, which made Caroline sad, so she drew a picture of the two of us, for me take with me so I wouldn't miss her,

The kids said

Caroline, "Mama, you should just relax now."
Me, "How should I do that, honey?"
Caroline, "Just quietly wash the dishes."
Yup, that's my favorite way to unwind and relax *rolls eyes,* lol.

Caroline was playing Daniel in the Lion's Daniel with her toy animals, "But this time the lions are eating him, Mama!" I'm sure Daniel would be glad Caroline didn't write the story, lol 🦁.

Luke bumped his head on one of his guns and cried for a minute or two, then pulled himself together, "I ok now, I ok. It will heal."
Lol.

The kids said

Luke, after coming home from an errand with John, "Mama, we went to a man place!"
He was quite pleased with himself :-)

Luke, "Mommy, will you read to me?"
Me, "I'm folding laundry right now, Dukie. Can you read it yourself while you wait for me?"
Luke, "No, I too busy to do that."
I might have rolled my eyes, lol.

Caroline, "Mama, your hair smells beautiful!"
Me, "Thank you, honey."
Caroline, "It smells just like bacon."

Caroline and Luke were playing together on a pile of blankets when I was changing sheets, and Caroline asked him if he was comfy, "Are you comfy enough for transgressions?"
Somehow I think she did not know what the word meant, lol.

The kids said

Luke was talking to me before lunch, " Daddy likes guns, Hunter likes guns, Caroline likes guns, Dukie likes guns, Mommy likes books!"

Caroline, "Mama, when can we go to the Sleep store?"
After a few questions I realized she was asking about staying in a motel!

I was taking the kids' temps one day and Caroline was like, "Mama, you're just like a doctor!"

While eating dinner John accidentally dropped some food in my water. Caroline spoke up before anyone else could, "Don't worry, Daddy. Mama forgives you."

Caroline has been very into the Bible story of Daniel lately. This morning she asked, "How come you don't throw me in the lion's den when I do something bad?"
John, "Well we really don't want you to be eaten by lions, Caroline. AND we don't have a lion's den."
Caroline, "Oh, ok."

If anyone in our home is feeling sick, or got hurt in some way, Luke asks the hurting person if he can get them a stuffed animal bear to hold. It comforts him, so why not share the love? 💙 😊

Hunter was complaining about slow internet and John told him he should have tried using dial up like we did when we were young.
Hunter, "What's dial up?"

The moment when your children are arguing over which one of them gets to marry you. I had to break the news that I was already taken :-). I explained to Caroline that if she is going to get married, God already has a special man picked out for her.
Caroline, "Oh, it will be a surprise? Like a birthday present?"
I suppose it will :-)

The beach

Caroline's favorite topic of conversation these days is about when the snow will be gone and we can go to the beach. All paths of conversation lead to the beach with her. Even tonight at family worship, the story of Noah waiting for the rain to stop to get off the ark is, "Like me waiting for the snow to melt!" Lol. This picture is of her on the beach at the park last fall.

Caroline said

While reading with the kids we stopped to talk about this page, and as always, Caroline had lots to say, " I'm going to be the baker, and the plant waterer, and the driver, and the mama, because mamas do everything! You take care of us, and clean the living room, and help me do homework, you do everything, Mama!" My life summed by a three year old, lol.
